Yalameh Persian Rugs - Rug Guide
Located in the north of Isfahan, central Iran, lies Yalameh, an area renowned for its distinctive and warm-looking rugs. Most of the prestigious carpet productions come from the towns of Aliabad, known for its fine-quality rugs, and Tarkhonche.
The Yalameh rugs are expertly crafted using 100% wool, encompassing both warp and weft, which adds to their durability and luxurious feel. Their design repertoire is marked by geometric patterns, particularly diamond-shaped medallions, which are emblematic of their rich nomadic heritage. The vibrantly coloured patterns and motifs reveal a distinct narrative of their origins.
The inhabitants of Yalameh were once nomads who settled in and around Isfahan. However, they continued their rich carpet weaving tradition, evolving it over time to produce more refined and uniform weaves. These carpets, with their compelling blend of historical influences and artistic evolution, make a striking decorative statement, reflecting the captivating journey of the Yalameh people.
